The Institute

Charter

Draft — pending founder wording. This charter is not yet adopted.

01

Name and legal status

The Orchestrator Institute (OIAIL, at oiail.org) is the public name of Orchestrator Institute, Inc. (name selected, incorporation in process).

The Institute’s application for recognition under section 501(c)(3) is pending. Gifts are not yet tax-deductible.

02

Purpose

The Orchestrator Institute conducts research, develops standards, and administers recognition for the human orchestration of AI.

Recognize the work. Study the transformation. Preserve human agency.

03

Structure

The Institute is the institutional home. Two arms sit beneath it: Research, and the Orchestrator Awards as its recognition program.

Research. The Institute’s research arm studies the systems, standards, governance and human agency of work directed by people and carried out by machines. Its published record lives here.

The Orchestrator Awards. The Orchestrator Awards are the Institute’s recognition program for human direction of AI systems, across 30 domains, beginning with AI-native cinema. Recognition operations are not yet open.

04

Independence of recognition

The Institute does not direct the recognition decisions of the Orchestrator Awards. Those decisions rest with the Awards’ published methodology, and final judgment is always the act of named, unconflicted human evaluators.

05

Conflicts of interest

Anyone with a financial, employment, family or creative interest in a matter before the Institute or the Awards discloses it and takes no part in the decision. The Awards’ conflict-of-interest and recusal policy, currently a draft, sets out how this applies to recognition.
